Description

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to design, implement, optimize, and support relation database management systems to support in-house created and off-the-shelf commercial applications to aid in case tracking and processing. The Senior Application Developer will be part of QDA’s Information Services Bureau that includes a staff of 12 and serves an office of over 800 staff.


The Senior Database Administrator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Design redundant, highly available database clusters for several in-house and off-the-shelf enterprise applications.
  • Implement and maintain zero loss databases across multiple nodes in multiple clusters.
  • Perform index tuning and optimization tasks using SolarWinds DPA.
  • Develop and maintain entity relationship diagrams of data stores.
  • Experience with MS SQL tools such as MS SQL Management Studio.
  • Design disaster recovery plan, schedule and implement the plan on a regular basis.
  • Create and document various data views for use in data visualization tools, such as Power BI.
  • Maintain object relationship consistency across all related data stores, enforcing foreign key constraints on dependent tables.
  • Implement role-based security access, leveraging SSO and MFA where required.

Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to information technology service management, process management, operations; or,

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related IT service management, process management, operations; or,

3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or “2” above.

A master’s degree in computer science or a related field from an accredited college is strongly preferred.

Must have excellent communication skills and experience in handling confidential information.

For current New York City employees, a permanent computer-related civil service title is preferred but not required.

Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000. Salary commensurate with experience.
