The Queens County District Attorney's Office is seeking an Assistant District Attorney for its Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau in the Investigations Division. The bureau investigates and prosecutes specialized crimes including gang violence, narcotics trafficking, and firearms trafficking activity.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Proactively investigating and prosecuting all phases of criminal cases ranging from simple gun possession to homicide, and conspiracy to commit the same.
- Working closely with Assistant District Attorneys, police officers, and financial investigators on complex, long-term investigations directed at suppressing violent crime and dismantling criminal enterprises engaged in narcotics and firearms distribution.
- Researching and writing eavesdropping warrants and complex search warrants directed at various digital evidence platforms.
- Litigating all aspects of cases including complaint drafting, grand jury presentation, discovery and motion practice, witness development and preparation, evidentiary hearings, and trials.
Qualifications: Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 5 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:
- Substantial felony jury trial experience with cases involving serious violent crimes.
- Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution.
- Experience examining and cross-examining forensic experts in various disciplines, including ballistics, fingerprints, DNA, crime scene and medical and mental health issues.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Extensive knowledge of New York Penal and Criminal Procedure Laws.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $102,091 to $126,000.
