Description

The Queens District Attorney is currently seeking applicants for a Managing Supervisor within its Diversion and Alternative Sentencing Unit. This Unit manages a variety of clinical services and resources to individuals involved in the criminal legal system.

The Managing Supervisor will report to the Bureau Chief and Deputy Bureau Chief of the Rehabilitation Programs and Restorative Services Bureau and will be responsible for a variety of duties including, but not limited to:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Chief and Deputy to manage the operations and functions of the Diversion and Alternative Sentencing Unit, including overseeing specific areas that involve services, programs, and/or treatment, including diversion and alternative sentencing, as assigned.
  • Conferring with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, treatment providers, etc. regarding difficult cases, program eligibility/suitability, and service delivery.
  • Supervising court proceedings and reviewing court transcripts, including managing a small caseload of active cases (some involving press matters).
  • Serving as a resource and information source regarding policies and procedures, and program and treatment options.
  • Providing supervision and management duties for a team of case managers and supervisory staff, as assigned by the Bureau and Deputy Bureau Chief, including leading supervision and team meetings. The Managing Supervisor will be responsible for administrative and human resource duties for the assigned team.
  • Compiling and analyzing data, maintaining statistics, and drafting case summaries; analyzing trends and preparing management reports.
  • Conducting internal, stakeholder, and community outreach presentations and trainings on diversion and treatment related subjects.
  • Attending community meetings and events, including in evening hours.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree is required in social or behavioral sciences and three years of supervisory or management experience working in treatment and/or criminal justice areas.  Strong preference will be given to candidates with at least one year of experience in adolescent and substance misuse treatment; knowledge of treatment programs, treatment facilities, and the local criminal justice system.
  • Experience and knowledge in provision of evidence-based and evidence-informed care
  • Experience collaborating with government agencies and non-profit organizations.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral skills.
  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced high-volume atmosphere.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $110,000. Salary Commensurate with Experience.
