Job Description:

  • Oversee specific areas that involve services, programs, and/or treatment, including Diversion, Victim Advocacy and Alternative Sentencing.

  • Establish objectives, policies and organizational structure and operating model of newly formed bureau.

  • Develop, facilitate and support office-wide efforts to assist victims and witnesses in navigating the criminal justice system, addressing trauma, and ensuring that service needs are met.

  • Expand office’s collaborations with organizations that provide diversion services in order to promote resolution of cases outside the justice system while holding individuals accountable.

  • Manage the operations and functions of the Alternative Sentencing Unit, including those that pertain to the expansion of program partnerships; the monitoring of individual cases; collaboration with the court, defense bar, and other stakeholders; and supervise the legal practice in the Criminal Court treatment and problem-solving courts.

  • Serve on various interagency committees and attend multidisciplinary meetings to strategize about individual cases, treatment and service delivery challenges, and improve case outcomes.

  • Manage staff of attorneys and support professionals, as well as clinical staff.

  • Assist in drafting Requests for Proposals for programs that this bureau will work with.

  • Confer with attorneys, law enforcement personnel, treatment providers, etc. regarding difficult cases, program eligibility/suitability, and service delivery.

  • Attend court proceedings and review court transcripts.

  • Serve as a resource and information source regarding policies and procedures, and program and treatment options.

  • Compile and analyze data, maintain statistics, and draft case summaries; analyze trends and prepare management reports.

  • Attend community meetings and events, including in evening hours.

Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years post-JD experience in Criminal Justice or related field, including 5 years of litigation experience.

  • 3 years supervisory or management experience.

  • Experience collaborating with government agencies and non-profit organizations.

  • Strong organizational, written and oral skills.

  • Ability to succeed in fast-paced high volume atmosphere
