Queens District Attorney’s Office Spring 2022 Legal Internship

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney is currently seeking applicants for our Spring Legal Internship, which will run from January through April 2022. This is an unpaid internship. 

The internship has been designed to provide law students with an outstanding opportunity to learn about the QDA’s, which serves the most diverse county in the country.  Interns will work hand in hand with prosecutors and appreciate their unique role as advocate and fair-minded public servant.

Depending on the bureau assignment, they will engage in many aspects of prosecutorial work, such as:

  • researching and writing assignments for pending cases
  • motion and discovery practice
  • assisting with search warrant applications
  • observing proffers
  • civilian and police interviews
  • Court appearances pursuant to the student practice order
  • crime scene visits
  • participation in community outreach with the Community Partnerships Division

Interns will also be invited to attend divisional and office wide legal training sessions.

DETAILS

  • The program begins in January 2022 and ends in April 2022 (to be determined by school schedule)
  • Interns will be assigned to a specific bureau
  • Interns will work in person* for a minimum of 12 - 15 hours a week (days to be arranged with bureau)
  • As of August 2, 2021, all new hires must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, unless they have been granted a reasonable accommodation for religion or disability. If you are offered city employment, this requirement must be met by your date of hire, unless a reasonable accommodation for exemption is received and approved by this office.

*The format of this internship will be subject to maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and compliance with CDC guidelines.  If modification is necessary, options will range from in person, to hybrid (in person/remote work), or a fully remote program. This may also vary from bureau to bureau.
