Job Description: The Grand Jury Bureau oversees the coordination and presentation of all felony matters before the Grand Jury.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing indictments and all associated paperwork, i.e., notices, finding slips, predicate statements, etc.
  • Preparing indictment paperwork for filing
  • Maintaining and managing Grand Jury Monitor information
  • Scheduling grand jury presentments in all grand juries
  • Expediting the presentment and processing of grand jury matters involving hospitalized defendants
  • Conferencing potential grand jury matters with ADAs from all bureaus
  • Communicating with Uniformed Court Officers assigned to the grand juries
  • Communicating with Felony Operations personnel regarding night court matters
  • Supervising support staff  
  • Working on-site “after-hours” should ADAs have questions/issues regarding grand jury matters in progress 
  • May have to appear in Felony AP Part including but not limited to AP6, GWP, W50 and TAP A, as needed, to stand up on the daily calendar

Qualifications: Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 8 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:

  • Extensive experience in handling all aspects of criminal prosecution
  • Substantial felony jury trial experience
  • Extensive knowledge of New York Penal law, VTL and Criminal Procedure Law
  • Title and salary dependent upon qualifications and experience. Salary range from $114,675 to $158,000.
