Description

This Managerial Position in Legal Hiring will report to the Director of Litigation Training and Legal Hiring.  This Manager will be responsible for assisting in maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders in the law school community and coordinating among current assistant district attorneys and professional organizations to attract a diverse pool of top law students to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Responsibilities will include assisting in the following:

  • Defining and implementing the hiring process for entry-level ADAs and interns.
  • Overseeing of all levels of ADA and intern candidate interviews, job postings, job fairs, on-campus interviewing, outreach to student organizations and bar associations, the Brave Justice Summer Legal Internship Program including activities and events, QDA ADA Mentorship and Mock Interview Programs, QDA Website Careers Page.
  • Selecting, managing, and providing guidance to the Hiring Committee; conducting and participating in all Executive Interviews and preparing Hiring Recommendation Memos for the Chief Assistant DA and District Attorney’s approval.
  • Creating a Legal Hiring Strategic Plan and a monthly Legal Hiring Office Report for the DA, Chief Assistant DA, and Chief of Staff
  • Developing innovative projects and programs to increase diversity, promote a career in prosecution and generate interest in the Queens District Attorney’s Office.
  • Initiating outreach to law schools, Career Services departments, law student organizations and Bar Associations.
  • Developing special projects designed to increase diversity, promote a career in prosecution and /or interest in the QDA Office.

Preferred Education and Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 7 years of prosecutorial experience. 
  • Substantial experience in the hiring process of attorneys, including strong interviewing skills.
  • Significant managerial experience preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple long-term projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and high concern for accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal, writing and communications skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively and diplomatically with colleagues and external stakeholders of different backgrounds and experiences.
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Assistant District Attorneys must reside in New York State.

Salary Range:   $145,000 to $175,000.   Salary Commensurate with Experience.
