Job Description:  The Queens County District Attorney's Office has an opening for a Managerial Position, Crimes Against Revenue Unit (CARU) within the Financial Frauds Bureau. CARU is a specialized unit dedicated to investigating, prosecuting, and deterring complex crimes that undermine government revenue and divert critical public resources.  Through aggressive enforcement efforts and strategic partnerships with Federal, State, and local agencies, the Unit targets individuals and organizations that deliberately evade tax obligations, traffic untaxed cigarettes and other contraband, and exploit government assistance programs for personal gain.  Additionally, CARU is committed to recovering funds lost through fraud and returning revenue to New York taxpayers whenever possible. The Unit has been recognized among the best in the state in securing restitution to New York State.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Handling complex financial crimes targeting government programs and coffers. 
  • Supervising Assistant District Attorneys in the Financial Frauds Bureau who handle CARU cases from investigation through trial.
  • Working extensively with law enforcement in drafting subpoenas, search warrants, GPS orders and Cell Site Orders.
  • Reporting to the Deputy Bureau Chief and the Bureau Chief of the Financial Frauds Bureau.

Qualifications:  Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 8 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:

  • Extensive experience in handling all aspects of a criminal investigation and prosecution. 
  • Excellent writing skills and experience drafting search warrants.
  • Grand jury and felony jury trial experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of New York Penal and Criminal Procedure Laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Title and salary depend upon qualifications and experience.  Salary range from $128,000 to $165,000.
