Investigative Analyst 
 

The Queens County District Attorney's Office (QDA) is seeking an Investigative Analyst for its Violent Criminal Enterprises Bureau (VCEB). The VCEB is a unit of QDA’s Investigations Division that investigates and prosecutes specialized crimes including gang violence, narcotics trafficking, and firearms trafficking activity. The VCEB serves an office of over 700 staff.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Working closely with Assistant District Attorneys, police officers, and financial investigators on complex, long-term investigations.
  • Using public records, law enforcement databases, and social media to research case subjects and locate witnesses.
  • Analyzing telecommunications and financial records.
  • Capturing and documenting case-relevant online content.
  • Reviewing evidence, including seized and subpoenaed records.
  • Preparing memorandums, spreadsheets, charts, and graphs, both for internal use and for grand juries and trials.
  • Mapping cell site records.
  • Testifying under oath about research and analysis.
  • Data-mining and conducting proactive research.
  • Listening to wiretapped and inmate calls.
  • Establishing links, discerning activity patterns, and identifying assets and other case leads.
  • Coordinating with other bureaus and units within QDA, as well as with private and government entities, including the New York City Police Department and federal agencies.

Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree with an educational focus in Computer Science, Information Systems, Criminal Justice, or related fields is preferred, as well as experience in computer forensic training, technical reporting and writing. Experience working in law enforcement or using any of the following applications is also preferred: Sytech ADACS, Pen-Link, SnagIt, Thomson Reuters CLEAR, LexisNexis Accurint, Westlaw, Verint, or UFED Analyzer. All candidates must have at least a high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
 

Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
