Enterprise Solution Architect

 

The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is currently seeking an Enterprise Solution Architect to oversee all software application architecture-related aspects of QDA’s various software applications, at the direction of the Chief Information Technology Officer. The Enterprise Solution Architect will be part of QDA’s IT Department that includes a staff of 25 and serves an office of over 750 staff.

The Enterprise Solution Architect will be responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of a variety of software solutions and applications in support of QDA’s IT operations including, but not limited to:

  • Researching, reviewing, and making recommendations regarding any new software applications from a perspective of design, integration, and technical fit with other systems.
  • Liaising with the development team on all planning, designing, programming, and implementation of any in-house software development.
  • Taking the lead role in reviewing and discussing all technical solution designs to ensure they meet the needs of QDA.
  • Researching, recommending, developing, and implementing new software applications.
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to understand the needs for various software applications.
  • Working with external software vendors on application designs or enhancements.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation regarding software design and development.
  • Creating and implementing QDA software development standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Training and mentoring software development staff.
  • Maintaining a current understanding of the administration and functionality within the supported software applications, as well as the workflow of data through various software application systems.
  • Researching new technologies and solutions in support of continuous improvement.

Qualification Requirements:

Qualified candidates must have a permanent New York City computer-related civil service title in order to be considered for this position.

Qualified candidates must have a Baccalaureate Degree or the equivalent education and experience. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, multi-tasking capabilities, work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time experience in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, area networks, or related area, and at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity.

Preference will also be given to candidates with advanced knowledge and experience in both waterfall and agile SDLC practices; advanced skills in configuring and supporting software applications; advanced knowledge and experience in front end user interfaces, backend databases, both batch and real time integration development technologies and practices; excellent software development and troubleshooting skills; advanced ability to research, analyze and recommend new technologies and software applications; advanced skills in creating and maintaining technical documentation; and enterprise insurance software experience.
