The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to manage, implement and support QDA’s Microsoft Windows infrastructure including Azure, Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange online.
The Senior Systems Engineer’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Configuration, implementation, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, and security management relating to:
- Azure AD, including synchronizing identities, and implementing security policies in accordance with NYC Cyber Command standards and practices
- Enterprise cloud services and concepts (GCP, Azure, AWS)
- Configuration, integration, and troubleshooting of email and mobile device management
- Planning and implementation of security measures to protect identities, data, software, and hardware including the utilization of system security tools and software to identify and manage breaches and conducting vulnerability assessments.
- Development and oversight of the Microsoft Office 365 services and applications platform including the Advanced Security Suite; creation and documentation of training methods related to new identity/authentication methods, Exchange and Office 365 products and associated services.
- Implementation, management and support of an Advanced Active Directory Infrastructure, including design, implementation and documentation of Enterprise Group Policies; compliance with best-practices, City-wide and agency-specific policies for servers and user end-point devices; internal and external DNS systems and internal DHCP architecture and scoping; troubleshooting and resolving issues associated with Active Directory and password/Identity management systems and any other required standard operating procedure (SOP).
- Configuration and administration of critical infrastructure service visibility and management tools such as SolarWinds and utilizing these system tools to monitor, track report and forecast system capacity, performance, and availability.
- Design, configuration and administration of enterprise Hybrid and Private cloud (Gov Cloud) for servers, storage capacity, data backup and disaster recovery purposes
- Troubleshooting and resolving network, hardware, software, or other server and system problems; recommending changes and replacing defective components when necessary
- Documentation of operational activities, including workflow, procedures, system designs, “run-book,” etc.
- In concert with agency IT Security Office, development of security policies, guidelines, procedures, and other pertinent documentation as it relates to system IT Security Policies, Compliance and Governance.
- Performance of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have a Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or related field and four years of full-time experience in local area network and/or wide area network planning, design, configuration, installation, implementation, troubleshooting, integration, performance monitoring, maintenance, enhancement, and security management; or the equivalent education and experience.
Must have excellent communication skills and experience in handling confidential information.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with Microsoft and similar industry certifications; working knowledge of email archiving, privileged access management (PAM) and Zero Trust Network Access technology (ZTNA) and virtualization; deep knowledge of Virtualization technologies with strong skills in enterprise virtualization platform configuration and administration in VMWare, Microsoft Hypervisor and/or Oracle VM VirtualBox, as well as at least one year of executing projects using standard functional project management methodologies or working in a matrix project management environment.
For current City employees, a permanent civil service title is preferable.
Application Information:
Salary range: $130,000 -$155,000. Salary commensurate with experience.
