Description

The Queens County District Attorney's Office has an opening for a Financial Analyst, in the Crimes Against Revenue Unit, of the Frauds Bureau. The Crimes Against Revenue Unit investigates, prosecutes and deters crime adversely affecting government revenue. When possible, the team recoups revenue siphoned from City and State coffers. The CARU team partners with Federal, State and local agencies to hold accountable those who deliberately fail to pay tax obligations, traffic untaxed cigarettes, and look to cheat government assistance programs. The unit has been recognized as being among the best in the state in returning restitution to New York State.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performs research, compiles, and analyzes complex financial information/data; gathers relevant data, information and/or documentation from a variety of sources.
  • Coordinates, analyzes, evaluates, and interprets financial information in preparing routine and special reports for the benefit of legal, investigative, and support personnel.
  • Interprets the results of intelligence and statistical analysis through presentations of data at meetings or through consultation with legal, investigative and support personnel.
  • Assists in the acquisition, development, and use of industry-current and in-house proprietary applications to gather, analyze, and process data to identify financial crime trends in Queens neighborhoods.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Reports to the Deputy Bureau Chief and the Bureau Chief of the Frauds Bureau.

Preferred Education and Qualification Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college required (preferably in data science, mathematics/statistics, computer science, or criminal justice).
  2. Candidates must be highly skilled in standard operating systems and software (Windows, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).
  3. Ability to handle multiple challenging assignments, detailed oriented with superior organizational, analytical, writing and communication skills.
  4. Capable of building institutional relationships with organizations, police, and other law enforcement agencies.
  5. An understanding of general practices related to legal records management, data protection, and privacy/confidentiality.


Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
