The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is seeking applicants for an Administrative Assistant position to help support the Appeals Bureau, part of QDA’s Appeals and Special Litigation Division. The Appeals Bureau is responsible for handling all post-conviction litigation in state and federal courts.
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties including, but not limited to:
- Typing legal correspondence
- Data entry into bureau record keeping systems, as well as QDA’s office-wide case tracking system
- Serving and filing documents through the electronic filing systems of state and federal courts
- Preparing hard copies of documents for filing in state and federal courts and service on opposing counsel
- Record keeping of internal documents, due dates, and court appearances of attorneys
- Answering the telephone
- Filing, scanning, and photocopying documents
- Assisting with other administrative duties, as assigned
Qualification Requirements:
Qualified candidates should have at least a high school diploma (or its educational equivalent). Candidates must have strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Outlook. The selected candidate will be trained regarding court rules for filing and service of legal documents. The candidate should also have excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and strong attention to detail.
Applicants must be able to regularly work Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree, prior clerical experience, including experience with data entry into computerized systems, handling documents of sensitive nature (filing, delivering, scanning, etc.).
