The Queens District Attorney's Office is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer. This role is vital in developing and maintaining the data infrastructure required to support data-driven decision-making and enhance the office's mission to deliver justice effectively.
The Data Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Data Infrastructure Development:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines and architectures.
- Develop, construct, test, and maintain data architectures, including databases and large-scale data processing systems.
- Data Integration:
- Integrate data from various sources, ensuring data quality, consistency, and availability.
- Work with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop solutions for data integration.
- Data Management:
- Develop and implement data management processes, including data cleansing, data validation, and data governance.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and privacy in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Optimization:
- Monitor and optimize the performance of data processing systems and pipelines.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve data processing efficiency.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to support their data needs.
- Provide technical support and guidance on best practices for data engineering and management.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architectures, processes, and systems.
- Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
Preferred Education and Qualifications Requirements:
1. A Baccalaureate degree in computer science, engineering or a related field from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure; or
2. Eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to IT automation engineering, monitoring engineering, management of infrastructure.
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or “2” above.
In addition, the preferred candidate should possess the following:
- Proven experience with data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
- Strong knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
- Proficiency in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
APPLICATION INFORMATION:
Salary Range: $130,000 - $135,000 (commensurate with experience)
